Washington,January 27, 2025 –Chartwell Strategy Group announced today that former New York City Council MinorityLeader Joe Borelli has joined the firm as Managing Director to support thecompany’s growing Washington operation, and to open the firm’s New York office.Borelli is widely known in New York business and political circles andpreviously served as a surrogate for President Trump’s New York state campaign.

During his 10-yeartenure in the City Council, Borelli chaired the committee on Fire &Emergency Management (2017-2021), served on the Budget Negotiation Team, and saton the critical Land Use Committee and Zoning Subcommittee, evaluating andapproving real estate development proposals in New York. He also was theco-chairman of Lee Zeldin’s 2022 run for governor.
Prior to joiningthe Council, Borelli was elected to the New York State Assembly in 2012,serving until 2015. He was the ranking member on the committee on Cities and amember of the committees on Energy, Banks, Housing, Health and Transportation,and served on the MTA Capital Review Board.
