Washington, DC - January 29, 2018 - A seasoned group of government relations and public affairs experts has come together to form Chartwell Strategy Group (Chartwell), a strategic advisory firm specializing in government relations, political risk management and strategic communications. The firm - led by Matt Epperly, Oswaldo Palomo and David Tamasi - will help clients navigate a dynamic global political landscape with insight and impact.
The bipartisan firm is comprised of strategists who have shaped policy and public dialogue on a range of issues from financial services and tax policy to health care and national security. Chartwell will also include James Segel and Chris Smith as Senior Counsel, and Daniel Blumenthal, Mark Hannah and Brian Miller as Strategic Advisors.

Matt is a leading public affairs counselor who advises corporate and government leaders on strategic communications, international affairs, and political risk management. He has managed public affairs and marketing campaigns in over 30 markets around the world and is a veteran of Democratic political campaigns at the presidential, mayoral, and congressional levels.
Ozzie specializes in devising and executing advocacy strategies for clients in a bipartisan manner before the Legislative and Executive branches of the federal government. Ozzie serves on several finance committees at both the federal and state level and as an advisor to numerous Congressional steering committees.
David is widely viewed as one of Washington's leading public affairs counselors, advising dozens of clients on political and legislative risk, reputation management, domestic policy, and international affairs. He is recognized as a leading Republican fundraiser, having participated in numerous congressional, gubernatorial and presidential finance committees over the last two decades, including most recently serving as Trump Victory Finance Chair, Washington, DC.
Jim brings over 30 years of experience working extensively on banking, housing, insurance, municipal finance, and asset management issues at both the federal and state level. From 2007-2011, Jim served as Special Counsel to Congressman Barney Frank, then Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee. During that time, Jim was extensively involved in developing the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) and the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
Chris brings the unique perspective of having participated in government policymaking at the highest levels in both the Executive and Legislative branches, as well as internationally. Chris was previously Chief of Staff to U.S. Treasury Secretary John W. Snow, and Counselor to the Treasury Secretary. Prior to Treasury, Chris served on Capitol Hill on the staff of the House Committee on Ways and Means, including as Chief of Staff for Chairman Bill Archer.
Dan is a leading expert in foreign, defense, and Asia policy. He provides companies full spectrum strategies and solutions to understand and shape the political and business environments in Washington, DC and in key Asian capitals. He is the President and CEO of Pacific Solutions, a business consultancy, and a former Department of Defense official and Commissioner on the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission.
Mark possesses significant experience leading strategic communications and public affairs campaigns, and scholarly expertise in the relationship between media change and public opinion. He previously led digital media strategy for the public affairs practice of Edelman's New York headquarters. Mark is a veteran of the Kerry-Edwards presidential campaign, conducted advance work for the Obama for America campaign and Presidential Inaugural Committee, and led overseas state visits for the Obama White House.
Brian is a specialist in global affairs and technology, with deep experience working closely with U.S. Senators, Congressmen, Ambassadors, corporations, startups, and nonprofit organizations to shape public policy. Brian previously served on the staff of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, working closely with the CIA, NSA, DIA, and other intelligence agencies on complex problems and sophisticated solutions. He was also the senior intelligence and national security advisor to Senator Dan Coats and national security advisor to Senator Judd Gregg.
